Folios 339-340: Home Riggs Popham, Bolton Street. Acknowledges receipt of your letter and he returns [not present] the enclosure referring to Robert Johnson. States the Parties of Royal Marines were disembarked from all the Ships, and he remembers as there nit above five or six Privates of the 20th Dragoons, selections were made to increase the party from such Corps as had any men who had been in the Cavalry Corps, and most probably Robert Johnston was so selected, but there does not appear any order in his order Book about him, therefore he apprehend the arrangement was only temporary and for the immediate good, and under the pressing exigency of the Service.
