Folios 197-198: Israel Pellew, HMS Conqueror, off the Tagus. Acknowledges receipt of their letter dated 16 November 1807 informing him of the appointment of Lieutenant Duncan McDonald to HMS Conqueror in the room of Lieutenant John Reynolds. He finds that he is a Senior Lieutenant to Lieutenant Gamaliel Fitzmaurice who has been First Lieutenant near two years and was in the action off Cape Trafalgar and raised gradually to be First. He requests they cancel the Commission of Lieutenant Duncan McDonald and appoint a Junior Officer.
