Folios 499-500: Nathaniel Portlock, Sea Fencibles, Salcombe, Kingsbridge, Devon. Reports the fate of the Bellona, Charles Spurrell Master, from Surinam to London, wrecked on the Bolt Head. The Master and 11 others climbed to safety up the cliffs, but the owner, Daniel Ferris, and 4 others perished. He hopes some of her cargo will be saved. He went to the spot with a boat as soon as possible and directed Lieutenant Rayner to stay on shore to render assistance. Praises the efforts of those who offered assistance.The ship sailed with a convoy under HMS Arab and parted company with them in a gale of wind.
