Folios 388-389: Robert Pettet, HMS Termagant, Chatham. Sends a letter received today from John Baker, Clerk. Recommends him as a deserving young man worthy of the promotion he is seeking.
Folios 390-391: enclosure with folios 388-389. Letter dated 24 January 1807 from John Baker, HMS Termagant, Chatham, to Robert Pettet, HMS Termagant. In May 1803 he sailed in HMS Victory from Spithead with Lord Nelson under the patronage of the Captain Sir Thomas Masterman Hardy as writer in his office. He left him in August [1803] to be Clerk of [HMS Termagant] which is about to be paid off. Seeks promotion to Purser in HM Navy.
