Folios 368-369: Charles Vinicombe Penrose, Sea Fencibles, Padstow. Receipt of directions to take charge of the crews of the Danish vessels at Padstow as prisoners of war, and to send them at the earliest opportunity to Plymouth. States that there is only one Danish vessel there in charge of the Collector of Customs, the crew consisting of the Master and Mate, 2 sons of the Master and one man, paid at the allowed prices of the Transport Board. As there is unlikely to be an opportunity to send them to Plymouth for some considerable time, and there is no prison or place of secuirty in that town, asks whether he should send an Officer and guard with them to Plymouth, the distance being about 50 miles. The cargo of the Danish vessels consists of pilchards, now so decayed as to be only fit for manure and dangerous to the health of those employed in her.
