Folios 357-358: John Pengelly, Stockwell Street, Greenwich. Presents a statement of his services which he hopes will gain him promotion to the rank of Post Captain or that he wlil be granted a command. He has been in the service 38 years, over 30 in actual service, 20 of which as Lieutenant, during which time he captured 2 privateers of superior force, for which he was promoted to the command of HMS Pegasus. He held that command for 7 years and served with the fleet during the whole of the Expedition in Egypt. HMS Pegasus was paid off over 7 months ago. He has a large family to support with nothing but his half pay. Asks for employment.
