Description

Folios 236-237: Joseph Pearce, HMS Vulture, Sheerness. Repoorts his arrival. Sends a copy of Admiral Gambier's order, together with a log of his proceedings [not present]. He sailed from Copenhagen on 2 [October 1807] and from Elsineur the following morning. The Nid Elven Danish brig of war which was under his charge parted company off the Naze of Norway on 6 [October 1807] as described in the log.

Folios 237A-237B: enclosure with folios 236-237. Copy of order dated 30 September 1807 from James Gambier, Admiral of the Blue, Commander in Chief, given on board HMS Prince of Wales, Copenhagen, to Captain Pearce, HMS Vulture, signed by command of the Admiral by Joseph Trouncell. Directs him to lend a Lieutenant and 30 men to the captured Danish sloop of war Nid Elven to navigate her to England and report her arrival to the Admiralty, and direct Lieutenant Meredith to await further orders from their Lordships or from Thomas Collier, managing agent for the fleet, for the disposal of the vessel and her stores. The Lieutenant must take particular care of her stores as there is no Purser appointed to her, and his Purser must supply her with such necessaries as she requires for which he will be remunerated.
