Folios 195-196: William Peake, HMS Peacock, Hawke Roads, Mouth of the Humber. Encloses a letter, a copy of which he has forwarded to Rear Admiral Vashon, stating the state of his sloop and that he has been obliged to throw some of her guns overboard. He supposes their Lordships may order HMS Peacock where she may complete her cannon.
Folios 197-198: enclosure with folios 195-196. Letter dated 13 November 1807 from William Peake, HMS Peacock, Hawke Roads, Mouth of the Humber, to James Vashon, Rear Admiral of the Red. Describes the circumstances in which they were forced by a gale to make for the Humber. The gale increased to a hurricane and the ship was flooded with water and many items washed overboard. He was forced to throw 8 carronades overboard and then the ship was more lively. He thought of returning to Leith to get his guns replaced but the wind was against them and because of the weakness of the crew he decided to make for the Humber where he is anchored. If the wind permits he will rejoin him. Before the gale he had boarded several merchant brigs, but none of them were privateers.
