Folios 166-167: Richard Peacocke, HMS Foudroyant. Encloses a letter concerning James McCleod and apologises for not returning it sooner.
Folios 168-169: enclosure with folios 166-167. Letter dated 16 May [1807] from Richard Peacocke, HMS Foudroyant, Plymouth Dock, to William Marsden, Admiralty. States the case of James McLeod, Seaman, who has been at sea 5 or 6 years and was at the University of Glasgow over a year. He has not had the opportunities to make a complete seaman but his conduct has been very good and he understands he conducted himself pretty well before he took command of the ship. He once ran away from the boat he belonged to and was punished. He felt it is duty to mention this circumstance as strongly militating against his idea of him being a fit person to fill a Quarter Deck sitautation which he seems to expect.
