Folios 146-147: Richard William Parker, George Inn, Portsmouth. Following the Admiralty order of 19 September 1906 he proceeded to the Leeward Islands to take command of HMS Rainbow. On his arrival he presented his commission to the Commander in Chief who said he did not know of HMS Rainbow but suggested that a sloop by that name might be being built at Bermuda. He ordered the Commander of HMS Laura cutter to take him there and on arrival found that the 2 sloops being built there were the Martin and the Atalanta. He returned to Admiral Cochrane and notified the Admiralty. He came home in HMS Prince George and on arrival reported to Admiral Montague. He hopes his heavy expenses and the wounds he had received will be taken into consideration. He fears his extreme illness of a few days back will mean this letter has missed the post. He is much recovered and ready for their Lordships' commands.
