Description

Folios 241-242: George Prevost, HMS Saracen, Spithead. Reports his arrival, encloses a copy of his orders from Vice Admiral Sir John Borlase Warren and a list of the convoy escorted by HMS La Seine which he left off Barbadoes. He touched at Bermuda to take on water and later at Madeira, but as Admiral Warren was not there he came on to England. Also encloses a list of defects and the state and condition of his ship.

Folio 243: Cover for folio 244.

Folios 244-245: enclosed with folios 241-242. Copy of orders dated 20 February 1806 from Vice Admiral Sir John Borlase Warren, HMS Foudroyant, off Madeira, to Commander George Prevost, HMS Saracen. He is ordered to take a convoy to Barbadoes and then return to meet the Admiral either off Madeira or the Canaries. If on the way he meets HMS Canada, HMS Montagu or any ship of the West Indies squadron, he should turn the convoy over to them and return. Countersigned by Samuel Prynn on behalf of the Admiral.

Folio 246: enclosed with folios 241-242. Copy of a list dated 20 February 1806 from Vice Admiral Sir John Borlase Warren, HMS Foudroyant, to Commander George Prevost, HMS Saracen. A list of the 10 vessels which became separated from the convoy escorted by HMS Canada.

Folios 247-248: enclosed with folios 241-242. Commander George Prevost, HMS Saracen. Report dated 8 May 1806 on the state and condition of his ship.
