Folios 223-224: Stephen Poyntz, HMS Tartar, Spithead. Reports his arrival from Halifax, having parted company with the Duke of Kent and the America mast ships in a gale. His ship was leaking sufficiently that he had to reduce the number of her guns, and since entering the English Channel she has sprung a second leak and he considers himself lucky to have got her into port safely.
