Folios 195-196: Richard Piercy, HMS Bellette, off Stromness. Reports the progress so far of the Hudson's Bay Company ships and the brig Resolution, which he was ordered to escort to the coast of Labrador. On orders from Admiral Lord Keith, subsequently amended by Vice Admiral Bartholomew Samuel Rowley, he left the Nore on 8 June, touched at Yarmouth, encountered a gale off the Murray Firth [Moray Firth] and then met HMS Phoebe, Captain James Oswald, off Buchan Ness. They reached Stromness on 20 June. Reports that when he sent Lieutenant Stewart and Midshipman Kenedy intro the harbour pressing men, Master James Nichol of the Brothers of Guernston, Banffshire, bound for Killaly, Ireland, took up a cutlass and threatened any man entering his cabin to search it. Another cutlass belonging to the King was found in his cabin. Suggests he should be punished.
