Folios 138-139: Francis Pender, HMS Ocean, Torbay. Reports his arrival the previous evening together with HMS Cerberus, HMS Euryalus and about 180 vessels bound for Portugal, the Mediterranean and the West Indies. When going down Channel he found he could not weather Start Point, so thought it prudent to take shelter in Torbay. Postscript. He sent HMS Gannett to Falmouth the night before they left Spithead, and Captain William Selby has sent HMS Merlin to Plymouth.
