Folios 245-246: Charles Dudley Pater, HMS Bellona, off Ushant. While receiving water from a brig named the Patty of North Yarmouth, a Seaman called John Whitwell, described, took advantage of the night and the hurry to escape aboard her. As soon as Pater realised he sent an Officer over to her who searched in vain and threatened the Master with prosecution. He was not found and may have been sent to another victualler.
