Folios 208-209: Shuldham Peard, Sea Fencibles, Fowey. He has inquired into the complaint by John Norris against Lieutenant Gibson at Penhale Signal station. Gibson ordered the men out of the kitchen in the station and into a stable outside. At first the men did not like it but they seem satisfied now. The station midshipman states that the three men have all been absent at the same time cutting furze for the oven and the stones mentioned by him were for building a chimney in the stable. Only two men were employed bringing them a mile. He has settled the potato dispute against Norris. No discharges of men can happen without his permission as Gibson had discharged a man without reason. The fraud is not proved and several respectable gentlemen have testified in Lieutenant Gibson's favour.
