Description

Folios 155-156: Charles Pelly, HMS Mercury, Quebec. Lieutenant Colonel Bowes Commander at Quebec directed him to survey the transports that were needed to take a detachment of the 6th Regiment to England. The report is enclosed. Bowes wants him to wait until the transports are ready but the weather is closing in and he feels he should get to Newfoundland especially as some of the materials needed for the repairs cannot be procured here and he thinks they will be here over the winter.

Folios 157-158: enclosure with folios 155-156. Letter dated 14 November 1805 by Colonel Bowes to Charles Pelly, Quebec. He needs to send the 6th Regiment to England in the transports which brought the 100th Regiment here. He asked Lieutenant Fairweather Agent to report on repairs needed, enclosed, and he asks for a report from HMS Mercury about the time needed and whether the materials can be procured here.
