Folios 152-153: Charles Pelly, HMS Mercury, Quebec. He could not follow Captain Somerville's orders HMS Nemesis, to keep the convoy together because of bad weather so he hovered around them. He names the seven ships that he has passed in the river all of which are extremely shattered because of the bad weather. The Two Friends, Nais and Three Brothers have not been seen by HMS Mercury on this side of Cape Ray. When he has reprovisioned and has applied for new sails which were so damaged in the storms he shall go to Newfoundland.
