Folios 197-198: Home Riggs Popham, HMS Diadem, Northfleet. Advises that Henry Fitcom serving on his ship was drafted from HMS Maidstone and he is as described in the enclosed Widow's petition and not likely to be of any use in his Majesty's service.
Folios 199-200: enclosed with folios 197-198. Petition dated 19 February 1805 by Widow Beet, City of Amsterdam, East Street, Gravesend, to the Admiralty. Advises that her son Henry Fitcom, HMS Diadem, commanded by Sir Home Popham, lately served on board HMS Acheron and was discharged by Admiral Lord Nelson at Malta due to ill health and came home as a passenger in HMS Maidstone. Advises that during this voyage he incurred the displeasure of her Commander and was drafted into HMS Diadem as a Foremast Man. Asks that he be discharged having had a relapse of the epidemic disorder then prevalent in Gibraltar.
