Folios 156-157: Richard Poulden, Regulating Officer, Whitby Rendezvous. Encloses the certificate for Edward Wood who was apprehended in the streets of Whitby, who under examination, states he arrived on 4 January in the Good Intent and was a Fisherman Sea Fencible of Staithes. On asking him whether he had obtained leave of Captain Thrush to sail as a Mate of a Coaster, he responded by saying he was enrolled as a Fisherman as appears by the register of the Thee Brothers lugger belonging to his Father Edward Wood Senior. Reports that no document exists of an Agreement between his Father and Smales & Co. for building a sloop which is said to show he was Master. Asks for directions on what action to take as he is led to believe an application will be made for his discharge. Advises that the Register of the Three Brothers has not been altered although Edward Wood Junior confirmed he was not in her during the last Yarmouth fishing season.
