Folios 248-249: William Allen Proby, HMS Amelia, Carlisle Bay, Barbados. Covering letter for the enclosed [not present] List of the Convoy that was under his charge. Reports the Golden Grove parted from the Convoy one evening when he fired minute Guns for a considerable while previous to Sun Set, and when he found her at Maderia the Mate gave him information that the Master did it on purpose; that he afterwards fell in with the East India Convoy and endeavoured to part from them several times but the Mate interfered to prevent it. Two of his men also who are on board HMS St Lucia confirmed the Mates report with the addition that frequently said his Brig was well insured. [Further details of the voyage, Mentions:-] The Panther parting, being captured by a French Privateer and recaptured her off Guadeloupe, Madeira, The Joseph & Betsy - John Lemgrin[?] Master parted on the night of 5 July 1804, HMS Cyane.
