Agreed to assist Captain Poulden of Navy Impress service on orders 19 May. Ordered by Captain Poulden 24 May to deliver dispatches to HMS Mermaid cutter off Whitby which he gave to Lieutenant Wallis who on reading them promptly impressed him and his eight man crew.
