Folios 191-192: d'Arcy Preston, Regulating Captain, Whitby. Encloses weekly return [no longer present]. Reply to 8th letter saying his return is only for shore service as he hasn't a vessel fitted for sea. The five man boats laid up at Scarborough for the winter could be converted into gun boats. Is unsuccessful in persuading the townsfolk to fit out a ship for their defence.
