Folios 186-187: d'Arcy Preston, Regulating Captain, Whitby. Encloses weekly return [not present] and Captain Crawford's letter from Scarborough about Thomas Cappleman's distress to which he can testify.
Folio 188: enclosed in folios 186-187. Letter dated 5 October 1803 by Captain James Coutts Crawford, Flamborough Sea Fencibles, Scarborough to Captain Preston. Reports Thomas Cappeleman, a Filey fishing vessel Master had his son Thomas and John Crumpton impressed from his vessel at sea by HMS Carysfort last April. Was unable to join the Yarmouth fishing this season because he cannot find replacements. Has wife and four children in great distress. Requests assistance.
