Folios 180-181: d'Arcy Preston, Regulating Captain, Whitby. Having been along the coast has procured a chart containing information about the district's coast and has marked where he thinks the signal stations should be. Says Filey , Scarborough, Robinhoods Bay, Brunswick and Staithes can be defended from the cliffs though the roads are narrow and winding. River Tees entrance is narrow. Indebted to the Collector of Taxes for his information.
