Folios 382-383: William Pierrepont, Liverpool. Since being in Liverpool has learnt from experienced seamen tht the channels leading into the River Mersey are not impassable by any determined attempt which might be made by an enemy with a small force. Puts forward some recommendations to protect the town of Liverpool. Has been informed that the merchants of Liverpool who first offered to defend the place at their own expense now refuse to part with a guinea. A deputation of their Committee has been sent to London to seek the aid of the Government. Confirms that Captain Sturt [?] has now joined.
