Folios 265-266: Edward Pellew, HMS Tonnant, Hamoaze. Encloses reply to application made by Captain Murray, Captain Buller and himself requesting a "scuttle of communication" being opened between certain cabins. It was by this means he collected his officers in the mutiny on L'Impetueux when other means had been blocked. Recommends should be in all ships of the line.
Folios 267-268: enclosure with folios 265-266. Letter dated 19 March 1803 from H. Duncan, J. [?] and B Tucker, Navy Office.to Captain Sir Edward Pellew, Captain George Murray and Captain Edward Buller. Confirms receipt of their joint letter of 17 March stating that they do not have authority to cut the scuttles between the beams to make ladder communications and that they should make application to the Lord Commissioners of the Admiralty.
