Folios 232-233: Robert Paul, HMS Explosion, Nore. States that the weakness and inexperience of his crew made it extremely difficult fighting with the mortars which take 10 of his men let alone the 68 pounders. His 16 Landsmen and 18 Ordinary and requests 6 Seaman in exchange for 6 Landsmen as at present only has 4 men that can take the helm and lead.
