Folios 197-198: Charles Dudley Pater, Great Smith Street, Westminster. Replying to Admiralty letter of 22 February confirms that Andrew Largonet served as Pilot on HMS Shannon under his command. From memory he served for some months in 1800 on the coast of France mainly around Quiberon and L'Orient. Depended little on Pilot at first but soon found he was correct in his judgement and knowledge of that coast. He conducted himself with great attention, caution and sobriety. Was well satisfied with his service..
