Folios 187-188: William Parker, HMS Amazon, Spithead. Should have made an earlier report on the patent machine for purifying water. Since it was received the water supplied had been generally good so has not had quite a fair trial. It has been used when we did not feel the water was muddy or had an offensive smell and it certainly purified it completely. It will not clear by any means sufficient quantity for the Amazon's complement of men.
Folio 189: enclosure with folios 187-188. Note - Can you be so good Sir as mention this person's name and where he lives - Captain Markham. Reply - I don't know, but there is a long correspondence with him in the office and [?].
