Folios 456A-456B: William Prowse, HMS Prince of Wales, Spithead. The cook on board his ship has written to him asking that he be superannuated as he is no longer capable of working. He can atest to the truth of his letter.
Folios 456C-456D: ensclosures to folios 456A-456B. Letter dated 6 June 1801 from William Hamilton to Captain William Prowse both of HMS Prince of Wales. He writes that he is now 72 years old, having served in the navy as a cook for 46 years. He lost an arm during his period of service. He is now in a poor state of health with failing sight and hearing and he finds himself incapable of fulfilling his duties. He asks to be superannuated
