Folios 390-391: Israel Pellew, HMS Cleopatra, Spithead. Covering letter for the enclosed Gunners Passing Certificates of HMS Cleopatra & also his Certificate from him, he having found it necessary to repass in England previous to his Confirmation; he has served as Acting Gunner by Admiral George Vandeput appointment in HMS Lilly and HMS Cleopatra since 28 August 1798. He requests this be confirmed.
Folios 392-393: enclosure with folios 390-391. Letter dated 1 June 1798 by Admiral George Vandeput, Commander in Chief of His Majesty's Ships and Vessels in the Gulf of St Lawrence, the Coast of Nova Scotia etc. etc. etc, to David Patterson. Orders appointing him Gunner of HMS Cleopatra in lieu of Mr John Jennings invalided.
Folio 394: enclosure with folios 390-391. Letter dated 1 June 1801 by Israel Pellew, HMS Cleopatra, Spithead. Certificate to the Office of Ordnance that Mr David Patterson served as Master Gunner on HMS Cleopatra from 1 June 1799 to 8 December 1801.
Folios 395-396: enclosure with folios 390-391. Letter dated 8 December 1801 by Joseph Tharam - HMS Texel & [?] Austin[?] - HMS Canada & Alexander Ross - HMS Pompee at Spithead. Examination of David Patterson for Master Gunner.
