Folios 373-374: Israel Pellew, HMS Cleopatra, Halifax Harbour. He reports that since HMS Camel sailed, HMS Pheasant arrived on 7 October 1801 from off Boston, where she had been placed to intercept if possible Le Berceau - he informs that although everything was done by Captain Henry Carew to prevent it, she has made her escape. She weigh about 12 o'clock on the night of 26 September 1801 under charge of a Pilot from Martha's Vineyard, which Pilot was paid five hundred Dollars if he took her clear of HMS Pheasant [give more details the route taken]. Reports HMS Boston has sailed for the Chesapeake to assist HMS Andromache watching La Sémillante - The Mast Ship is not yet arrived though expected by the end of the of next week - HMS Lilly has arrived today from the Gulf of St Lawrence. Enclosed [not present] are the State and Conditions of HM ships in Halifax Harbour.
