Description

Folios 371-372: Israel Pellew, HMS Cleopatra, Halifax. Reports, by HMS Camel Store Ship, his arrival at this Port on 16 September 1801; on finding Vice Admiral Sir William Parker returned to England, and leaving orders for him to bring home the Mast Ship if she was ready; but finding from the Contractor for Masts that Duke of Kent will not be so before the latter end of October 1801. He thought it advisable to stat till that time in order to take her under his Convoy to England. He reports that the La Sémillante is still in the Chesapeake, & that HMS Andromache is on her station where the Admiral had placed her, the Le Berceau is in Boston where HMS Pheasant is watching her, and HMS Lilly is in the Gulf of St Lawrence - The Gunner of HMS Boston being invalided, he has removed the Gunner of HMS Pheasant into that ship and appointed the Gunner's Mate of HMS Cleopatra into HMS Pheasant and he recommends him to their Lordships as a deserving good man. Enclosed [not present] are the State and Conditions of HM ships in Halifax Harbour.
