Folios 264-265: Charles William Paterson, HMS San Fiorenzo, at Single Anchor Spithead. Informs that when he received their orders dated 29 December 1800 to proceed in HMS St Fiorenzo off Cherbourg during the Easterly Wind, the ship was so far in preparation for the people of the Yard to make good her defects that it was not till last night he could get ger ready for Sea, that it now blows hard from S.W. in consequence of which he requests their further instructions.
