Folios 255-256: Charles Dudley Pater, HMS Shannon, Yarmouth Roads. Covering letter for the enclosed letter from a man who deserted from HMS Shannon about one year and 8 months ago while refitting in Plymouth, - He now find by the enclosed he had entered on board HMS Clyde, where he is now employed as a musician:- As he has always taken an uncommon pains to recover deserters and bring them back to their proper ship and in which he has been very successful. He requests an order for him to be discharged from HMS Clyde George Filmore into HMS Shannon his proper ship.
