Description

Folios 225-226: Charles Dudley Pater, HMS Shannon, Yarmouth Roads. Covering letter for the enclosed letter from the Purser of HMS Shannon with an account of the provisions destroyed by the Rats. - Also [not present] a weekly account together with the defects of HMS Shannon, which he thought it his duty as Vice Admiral Charles Morice Pole has not yet arrived.

Folios 227-228: enclosure with folios 225-226: James Hamilton Clewlow, Purser, HMS Shannon, to Charles Dudley Pater, HMS Shannon. Report of the provisions destroyed by rats including a detailed account.

Folio 229: enclosure with folios 225-226: An account of Provisions, Destroyed by Rats on board HMS Shannon, Charles Dudley Pater Esq. Captain. May, June July 1801, as far as can be ascertained at present. Signed:- J Bell - Master, F H Cooke - Master's Mate & Francis Purcell - Steward.
