Folios 204-205: Charles Dudley Pater, HMS Shannon, Leith Roads. [Document damaged with some missing sections]. Reply to letter dated 16 March 1801 and having made a complete statement of the case therein alluded to, in his letter dated 13 March 1801. He returns Messrs Sibbalds & Co letter with a few comments on the subject as he has treated it:- 1st The Lady Forbes was never boarded by HMS Shannon's boats. being unwilling to impede their operations; and had the Moreland's Officer complied with the Act of Parliament, in treating the Lieutenant of HMS Shannon with the respect due to him, by shewing the Ships Papers (the omission of which is a breach of the Act passed the 19 July 1797, Chapter 109; clause 10) he should. [Total three plus sides and 6 Sections. Mentions:-] Leith Tender, a Serjeant of the Army looking for a Deserter, Magistrates of Leith, Lieutenant George Augustus Hire.
