Folios 258-259: Peter Puget, HMS Temeraire, Chatham. Encloses a letter from William Baker, Gunner, concerning his health. Requests that John Harris, at present Gunner of HMS Agaamemnon may be appointed to HMS Temeraire in his place. William Baker seems to be deserving of suerpannuation.
Folios 260-261: enclosure with folios 258-259. Letter dated 5 April 1799 from William Baker, Gunner, HMS Temeraire, Chatham, to Peter Puget, Commander of HMS Temeraire. Lists his afflictions which render him incapable of doing his duty at sea. Asks for him to apply for superannuation on his behalf.
Folio 262: enclosure with folios 258-259: Certificate dated 5 April 1799 from Francis Barrow, Surgeon. William Baker has applied to him to report the state of his health. In January 1797 he was seized with rheumatic gout and the fit continued for several weeks when his life was often considered to be in danger. He also has other symptoms and his health is very much impaired.
