Folios 244-245: William Allen Proby, HMS Danae, Plymouth Sound. On 11 October [1799] John Heaton was brought on board without having taken up his warrant and so drunk he could not be trusted on shore to do it. On 20 [October 1799] following the letter sent on 8 [October 1799] Thomas Davies joined and superceded Heaton, who had been in such a constant state of stupefaction as to be totally unfit for duty the whole time he was on board.
