Folios 216-217: William Allen Proby, HMS Danae, Hamoaze. General Maitland has come down for a passage abroad in HMS Danae. She is not suited to accommodate more than her own Officers as a large part of her provisions must be stored between decks and so no berth can be made for General Maitland and his suite without turning the people upon the deck. There is no room in his own cabin . Gives the dimensions as proof of its size.
