Folios 181-182: Charles Papps Price, HMS Badger, Isles St Marcou. On 8 [July 1799] he observed 2 gun brigs with a convoy of 8 sloops coming out of Isigney. Seeing HMS Beaver off Cape Barfleur he made a signal to Captain Jones that the enemy was in motion. He sent Lieutenant Thomas of HMS Sandfly with HMS Champion tender and all the boats belonging to HMS Badger and HMS Sandfly to harrass them. They [the enemy] saw that it was dangerous to risk passing them and seeing HMS Badger in chase to assist, they all ran on shore on one of the banks at the entrance to the river in too shallow water for Captain Jones to act. He is sorry to report they have gone up the river again. He is not pleased to see so many small convoys pass them but their gun brigs are too heavy for their tenders and boats.
