Folios 159-160: Charles Papps Price, HMS Badger, Isles St Marcou. Encloses a letter received from Lieutenant Riddle commanding HMS Rose. Receipt of letter of 20 [May 1799] informing him that the Admiralty had no account from him at their Office. He has been put to considerable inconvenience, and had not Lieutenant Peake with HMS Eling covered his boats, the Messengers could not have performed the service. Today he received dispatches from Normandy and immedieately sent HMS Grand Falconer off with them to Portsmouth.
Folios 161-162: enclosure with folios 159-160. Letter dated 15 May 1799 from Joseph Riddell, HMS Rose cutter, Cows, [Cowes?] to Captain Price, HMS Badger, Isles St Marcou. Receipt of letter of 10 [May 1799]. He informed him of the state of the cutter when last at Marcou, but when he arrived there he found her much worse than he had said in his letter. He sent orders to Mr Chilcott and received an order from the Admiralty to refit. Describes the repairs required, which he assumes will take a month.
