Description

Folios 143-144: Charles Papps Price, HMS Badger, Isles St Marcou. Encloses a letter received from Mr Pegus, Surgeon General of the islands, concerning the necessity of Mr Lawrence, 2nd Lieutenant of Marines of HMS Sandfly, being sent to sick quarters as a result of which he has consented to Lieutenant Thomas granting his request. Encloses another letter from Lieutenant Lawrence himself. On 1 April [1799] the Commissioners of the Sick and Hurt appointed Robert Walker Surgeon of HMS Badger. Asks for approval as there is no-one of that rank on the original establishment of HMS Badger.

Folios 145-146: enclosure with folios 143-144. Letter dated 28 April 1799 from Lieutnenant T Lawrence, Marines, East Island, St Marcou, to Captain Price, West Island, St Marcou. He has been too ill to do his duty for some months and the Surgeon has recommended him to be sent to the Hospital. He hopes his health will improve and he can return to his duty.

Folios 147-148: enclosure with folios 143-144, Letter dated 27 April 1799 from John Pegus, St Marcou, to Captain Price. Lieutenant Lawrence of the Marines serving on the East Island has been under his care for some time for a rheumatic complaint which is getting worse. Asks for him to be removed at the first opportunity for his recovery.
