Folios 249-250: Francis Pinder, HMS Arethusa. Reports his arrival at Spithead as a passenger in HMS Arethusa, encloses copies of his letter to Vice Admiral George Vandeput asking for leave and the Admiral's reply. He will leave immediately for Bath, asks the Admiralty to extend his leave.
Folios 251-252: enclosed with folios 249-250. Copy of a letter dated 8 September 1799 from Captain Francis Pinder, HMS Saint Albans, Halifax, to Vice Admiral George Vandeput asking for leave from his ship because of poor health.
Folios 253-254: enclosed with folios 249-250. Copy of a letter dated 15 September 1799 from Vice Admiral George Vandeput, Commander in Chief, HMS Asia, Halifax Harbour, apparently to Captain Francis Pinder, HMS St Albans [not explicitly addressed]. Gives him leave to go to England in HMS Arethusa to recover his health, but on arrival he must notify the Admiralty and apply for further leave.
