Folios 223-224: Edward Pellew, Plymouth. Reports that Boatswain James Smith was left in sick quarters at Falmouth and he expected the man to be sent to Plymouth Hospital, instead of which he deserted and was not seen for four months. The account he has now given of his treatment by Lieutenant Bell is false and malicious.
