Folios 213-214: Edward Pellew, HMS Indefatigable, at sea. Is sending a duplicate of his letter to Vice Admiral Sir Alan Gardiner with the Asphalon, which is going into Falmouth, while he seeks to rejoin Admiral Gardiner off Brest. Also encloses a copy of the report to the Admiral on the damaged suffered by his ship in constant gales, which lead him to expect that the Admiral may order him into Plymouth to make good his defect. Asks that orders be given for her to be taken into dock to inspect her bottom, as the ship grounded hard on the Saintes.
Folios 215-216: enclosed with folios 213-214. Copy of a letter dated 1 January 1199 from Captain Edward Pellew, HMS Indefatigable, at sea, to Vice Admiral Sir Alan Gardner. Reports the capture of the French privateer La Minerve 28 days out from St Malo. She was taken off the rocks of Abbervrak [l'Aberwrac'h] as she waited to go into Brest, together with her prize the Asphalon of Newcastle, which had been on her way from Halifax to London. Encloses a list of vessels captured by the privateer.

Folio 217: enclosed with folios 213-214. Captain Edward Pellew, HMS Indefatigable, at sea. Report dated 22 December 1798 from Carpenter William Crispian to Vice Admiral Sir Alan Gardner. His reports of defects found during his inspection of the ship.
