Description

Folios 277-278: Charles Papps Price, HMS Badger, Isles St Marcou [Îles Saint-Marcouf]. Reports that he received a boat with one of the correspondence from Normandy last night. He has sent HMS Fly Tender with him to Portsmouth, with directions for her immediate return with bread for the Islands. He further request that directions be given for certain Tenders may be ordered for that service, as at present all the Captains not being acquainted with his instructions call the Tenders off, frequently when we most want them, and the enemy having two or three Cutters in La Hogue. As one Cutter is going and coming from England, or repairing; one frequently required off the Calvadoes and one for this Bay. He hopes they will direct three Tenders now under his orders, HMS Grand Falconer at Portsmouth for Provisions, HMS Fly sent here with and HMS Champion gone this day with a messenger off the Calvadoes and Caen River; to attend this station. And that they will direct the Senior Officer or the Captain of the Squadron not to call the Tenders off where they are stationed. He reports being informed the Gun boats are practicing Daily in Cherbourg, but no movements near us, it is reported the Gun boats wish to get westward to join others at Grenville.
