Folios 263-264: Charles Papps Price, HMS Badger, Isles St Marcou [Îles Saint-Marcouf]. Covering letter for the enclosed two letters he received from Lieutenant Bourne containing charges enclosed therein, against two of the Royal Invalides named Alexander Frazier and John McGuffock borne as Supernumeraries on the Books of HMS Sandfly doing duty on the East Island.
Folios 265-266: enclosure with folios 263-264. Letter dated 29 July 1798 by Richard Bourne, HMS Sandfly, St Marcou to Charles Papps Price, HMS Badger. States Alexander Frazier Private Royal Marine belonging to the Invalides doing duty at this place having abused Lieutenant Lawrence of the Royal Marines on 26 July 1798,. He solicits, on the application of Ensign Carter of the Invalides that the person may be tried by a Court Martial for the above offence. The enclosed paper was presented to him by Ensign Carter, who had the Guard on that Day.
Folio 267: enclosure with folios 265-266. Letter dated 26 July 1798 by N Carter, Ensign, Royal [?] Invalides to Richard Bourne, HMS Sandfly. Alexander Frazier Private in Colonel John Anstruther Company Royal Marine, Confined by order of Ensign Carter for being drunk, neglect of duty, and being insolent to Lieutenant Lawrence of the Royal Marines.
Folios 268-269: enclosure with folios 263-264: Richard Bourne, HMS Sandfly, St Marcou. To Charles Papps Price, HMS Badger. Dated 29 July 1798. Covering letter for the enclosed he received from Ensign Carter of the Royal Independent Invalides stating the Mutinous Conduct of James McGuffock Private of his detachment while under arms on the Parade on the 17 July 1798. States Ensign Carter had an idea of sending him to Guernsey to receive punishment for his offence, and he understands has written to Colonel John Anstruther requesting him to sanction his intention, therefore does not wish an application for a General Court Martial to be preferred but as such proceedings do not appear to him to be regular, he thinks it his duty to acquaint you of the transaction.
Folio 270: enclosure with folios 263-264: Letter dated 17 July 1798 by N Carter, Ensign, Royal [?] Invalides, to Richard Bourne, HMS Sandfly. James McGuffock for being drunk on duty and when ordered to be confined attempted to push him with the Butt of his flintlock and charging his bayonet at him but prevented by Sergeant Ruby and others who wrestled the fire arm out of his hand.
