Description

Folios 253-254: Charles Papps Price, HMS Badger, Isles St Marcou [Îles Saint-Marcouf]. Reply to letter dated 14 June 1798 he has sent the unserviceable Royal Marines, by HMS Grand Falconer, to Portsmouth; He has enclosed a copy of his letter to General Auvergne with a request for replacements which he hopes they approve. He has directed HMS Grand Falconer to return with the Royal Marines and provisions for HMS Sandfly.

Folios 255-256: enclosure with folios 253-254. Letter dated 1 July 1798 by Charles Papps Price, HMS Badger, Isles St Marcou [Îles Saint-Marcouf] to General Auvergne, Commanding the Royal Marine Force, Portsmouth,. States, as directed he encloses a Pay List for thirteen Royal Marines, considered as objects not fit for Service. You will also receive an account of sixteen men, short of Complement sent here, with the causes. He request the deficiencies to be made up and sent out by return of HMS Grand Falconer, Cutter, which conveys the unserviceable men to England. [Follows a list of 16 men from [(A)] HMS Badger & West Isle & [(B)] HMS Sandfly or East Isle] with Ship's Book Number, Name, Rank, Reason, Date & Discharged to.
